Mike received the rank of Eagle in early 1967. He was continually active in Scouting from Cub Scouts until his 18th birthday. He was the sixth
of thirteen Eagle Scouts during his seven years with Troop 315. By the time Mike finished his scouting experience, Troop 315 enjoyed a record high 20% of the then active troop wearing the Eagle
badge.
Mike served on camp staff at Camp Miakonda with Kent Johnson (a later Eagle Scout) in the summer of 1966. He
was one of the earlier scouts to make the trek to Philmont Scout Ranch in the summer of 1967. He also received Order of the Arrow in 1968 and
Brotherhood in 1969. Like several others during that "Golden Age of Eagles" for Troop 315, Mike was awarded additional palms before he finished his scouting career having earned a total of 53 merit
badges. Mike also received the first Ad Altare Dei award for Troop 315 in 1965.
For his Eagle Project, Mike cleaned, inventoried and repaired as necessary, all the troop's camping gear and waterproofed all the tenting. He served as Senior Patrol Leader and Junior
Assistant Scoutmaster.
Mike has stated that Scouting made a significant impact on his life and helped shape his future. In his own words, "The comradery realized in scouting is unlike any other
in youth. From the first experience as a Tenderfoot, seeking guidance from elder scouts, through the attainment of leadership positions and mentoring new scouts, no other experience
teaches young men more about being of service to others and relishing in the accomplishments of all involved."
Today Mike works as a technical engineer for a communications
company and serves his community as a member of the North Baltimore Village Council. He also serves the nation as an active member of the 180th Fighter Wing, Ohio Air National Guard in
Swanton, Ohio. Additionally, Mike is a member of the Rotary Club of North Baltimore, our troop's charter sponsor.
